As I’m sitting down to write this blog, I am realizing something about myself. I don’t think in words. I see pictures and think in pictures. I was born painting pictures on my wall, and after my parents kept on “fixing” my mess with another layer of bland, beige paint, I was given the keys to the outside room, where I had complete artistic freedom. In my new room, I lived on a high…the constant whiff of paints might have had something to do with it.

I started with my bathroom. I faded the actual toilet from bright red to pink, top to bottom, and wrote a little note of endless joy to my teenage mind, just above water level, “Satan, eat this!” Elaborate, ongoing, ever-changing artistic expression continued in my studio room. I started my own T-shirt company. At age 16, I was flown to Cape Town, to help design T-shirts for a student movement. I have always loved colour. I have always enjoyed the arts.

In the year 2000, I went to a little town in Altensteig, Germany, complete with cobbled streets, in the Black Forest, to study a Visual Communications course. I learnt that the arts belong to God, and is up for recapture by Christian’s - the followers of the Creator God. The most outstanding thought that recently came to memory, was how cost shouldn’t determine content, but rather, content should determine the cost. Truthfully, no budget could ever express the greatness of our God anyway. This is what I feel for 3ci; It is not a time to ask ourselves, “What will it cost?”. Instead, Let us ask, “What do we want to say?” Once we have seen the pearl of great price, and Jesus becomes our grand prize, we will find limitless ways to express His captivating power over our hearts. Everything flows from there...
