I read Ps 92:14 the other day and sat by myself and wondered about ways to ensure I will ‘stay full of sap and green’. Here are a few thoughts that came into my mind:

Have a healthy view of God

    • He is eternally the same
    • He is sovereign and awesome and all mighty
    • His plans for you are good
    • Learn to enjoy God, in worship, in service, in creativity

Keep eternity in mind – God put in our hearts anyway!

      • We’re not living for this earthly life only, there’s a glorious future in eternity waiting for us!

      Read genealogies of the Bible

        • It takes up quite a part of Scriptures, so it must be there for a reason
        • We are all part of the bigger picture, so there are those who went before us, and those who will follow us
        • Don’t think your generation is the end-all of everything!
        • Don’t take yourself too seriously
        • Enjoy the time and life God has given you (it’s the only one you’ll ever have on earth)
        • Start early with a big family, and enjoy the young generation
        • Ensure that your conversation and life remains interesting, even for the young ones
        • If children and youth still laugh at your jokes, it’s a good sign

Become part of an energetic visionary team (in this respect 3Ci will do you good!)

          • Be willing to be stretched
          • Be flexible
          • Enjoy new challenges (look at problems as challenges, and great opportunities)
          • Don’t be a loner
          • Be happy
          • Invest in good and honest friendships (not too many!)

Live a disciplined (but not a legalistic) life

            • Be accountable
            • Stay active, and exercise (a sport that you like – not a sweaty, sensual gym please)
            • Read, and study, and learn – every day
            • Follow a healthy life style
            • Not so much TV – be very selective in what you take in (you will become what you behold)
            • Not so much eating – you are what you eat!
