I was exercising, running on the treadmill, looking through the window. I saw a tree without any leaves, so familiar, it’s bare, standing as the cold winter wind blows against it…. my soul relates to this picture, but Hope speaks: “it will have leaves again, it is rooted deep. Seasons change.”

Shakespeare describes it as “the winter of our discontent”. He implies that even our discontent with a situation, circumstances or people has seasons. It is therefore possible to have a “summer” season even if one is discontent, but the coldest, darkest and most uncomfortable season of a time of discontent will be winter. Such has been a period in our lives, a time of discontent, loss and a feeling of being lost, anger, disappointment and almost every other negative emotion.

Oh Lord, dear Lord, loving Father – You are so awesome – Your ways are higher than our ways, Your thoughts deeper than our thoughts, Your love wider than we can imagine. You are such a faithful God. Although one side of my heart yearns and mourns, I feel privileged that I have seen, experienced, felt and heard you so much more than ever before.

Two Pathways As I was praying about the next season I felt strongly that what is coming is not a new season, but a whole new era. A time which is more significant than any other time on earth in terms of the church being shaken into the purposes of God. Seasons will merge as we move forward, just as the seasons on earth are being mixed up and weather patterns are surprising forecasters, so the church will begin to be unsettled as the winds of change begin to blow on all that is ‘known’.

It's taken me this long to get over the defeat to Uraguay & France then went on to do us no favours by losing 2-0 to Mexico.

It was that time of the year again where a group of young men built up the courage and determination to experience, endure, and ultimately be transformed at a camp that has become a highlight on the calendar of nearly every 3ci high school boy. It was time for Kamp Staaldraad 3! This year the famous, as well as the infamous camp, took place yet again at the Maretlwane Lodge in the Magaliesburg Mountains. The word ‘lodge’ might sound most appealing and luxurious, which is the experience some most certainly had. Unfortunately those that experienced luxury were not us, the boys... read more...
