Hi All, this is Joanna Miller (the American), and I would like to share a testimony of God's goodness in my life!

As many of you know, at the beginning of June 2009, I was placed in a boot and crutches for three and a half months as I had a Grade 2 Stress Fracture in my right shin as a result of overtraining at soccer. The original incident happened that March, but I played on it broken unknowingly for 3 months.  I was informed by two doctors that the recovery rate for this type of injury could be quite long and that there was a likelihood that I would never play soccer (or do any sport for that matter) again, as even jogging caused pain.

I did a bit of soccer training while I was at home in the USA, but the pain stayed with me, so I resorted to non-impact activities like cycling to keep my cardio level up. I chose to wait on training for soccer until I arrived back in South Africa in January this year.  But after two weeks of training with the team, I thought my right shin was broken again as the symptoms had fully reappeared.  The only way to test this is by a bone scan (which is quite costly).  Needless to say, I did not get it tested again.  Instead, I received prayer one Sunday evening at the end of January, and then again at Home Group that Tuesday. I chose to sit out training that week, and then played in a home match at Tuks.

Since then, I have felt minor occasional tingling in my leg as I train but for the most part my leg feels great!  There are still some exercises that I refrain from doing over an extended period of time, but I can't complain! I am counting this as a miracle, as I was starting to think I would never play in another game or train for soccer again.  I have faith that it will heal fully in time.  Please join me in praising God through this ... as it truly is an honor to play for Him!
