I drive my work’s minibus (taxi) around and usually I’m mistaken for a taxi. The fact that I look like a typical taxi driver and my vehicle resembles one, doesn’t help much.  I have to always remember to lock my door otherwise people would just open the door and come in at stops and traffic lights. On one particular occasion at a traffic light, a guy open the door and came in. I just looked at him and smiled. As the traffic light turned green I drove, knowing that he still thinks I’m a legitimate taxi I couldn’t help myself but laugh and confessed to the man. Then we laughed together. Where he was going happened to be on my route so we had a great chat about God.

On Sunday evening on our way back from church, I was presented with the usual scenario where a guy thought I was a taxi and asked which route I was taking. There were three of us in the vehicle (Pearl, André & me) and we were having a great conversation about evangelism. Pearl tough it would be a great idea for this dude to overhear our conversation. So we offered to take him to his place. We could see he is very intrigued by our conversation so it was easy for us to ask him about his beliefs. He said that he believed in God, but his answer was not satisfactory to verify if he was saved. So we asked him if he had been saved.  “Not actually” he said quietly. So he started asking deep questions about God, suffering and healing. We had a good chat about God and the gospel.

To cut the long story short, we couldn’t offer solutions to all his problems, but we said that there was Jesus who could save his soul. He accepted Jesus!

We were excited for him and realized that it’s not always that difficult to evangelise, it takes  willingness… among other things.
