Family Day !

On Sunday 6 September 3ci had yet another memorable Family day.
All the basic ingredients needed for a fun day were present: Great weather (think height of summer rather than spring), lots of people in the mood to kuier, plenty of braai fires, food and sunscreen. Those alone would have made a great day, but there was way more. Things kicked of early for the home groups that lovingly served us all day by taking care of behind-the-scenes preparation. Heinz then preached an inspiring message about faith during the ‘joint’ 9am meeting. The tent was packed, and judging by the number of new members who were welcomed in, this family might need a few extra chairs pretty soon. To top things some new believers were baptized at the end of the meeting. Congratulations to all you guys, we rejoice with you!
The rest of the day was spent outside. As was evident by mid-day, some spent less time in the shade than others. The flow of sunscreen was outdone by the flow of cold drinks, which was in turn dwarfed by the flow of conversation. Family days are all about having relaxed time together to enjoy one another. It’s about forming new friendships, growing the fresh ones and cementing an old one or two.
While the oldies were building relationships through talking, the young were jumping, sliding, kicking, running , hitting and what not as games were enjoyed all over the lawns. By mid afternoon the energy levels were dropping and a good day ended with plenty an afternoon nap! Thanks to all who helped in so many ways from making candy floss to keeping an eye on the young kids, we had a successful day and a precious time together.
God puts the lonely into families, and maybe on this Family day some people had a sweet first taste of that glorious truth.
