    Dialogue on tribulation

    DIALOGUE ON TRIBULATION

Who can ever understand my agony?

When I am wrenched and turned inside out

Even with the entire world’s prosperity

I will never be able to buy my way out.

The prayers I offered seem to disappear

Vanishing in the expanse of thin air.

    Turmoil, confusion, doubt and fear

Who can rescue, give faith, heal and repair?

Wretched man that I am and ever will be

Who shall deliver me from this agony?

Life is like a vapour.  Today it is here,

Tomorrow it is gone.  It will disappear.

Memories will wane and absorb some of the pain

But reality is burned, twisted and turned to remain

Who can give peace, freedom, consolation?

What are the answers to my tribulation?

“I will do it for you!”

    “But who are You?”

“I am your Maker and I will set you free”

“How are you going to do this for me?”

“Look into the commandments of My Law,

and you will see what I saw”

“I can see that I fall short and miss the mark,

no matter all the efforts on my part”

“You have correctly seen and I have seen your zest.

Perfection will not come though you try your best.”

“What is the purpose then that you require attention

To the keeping of a Law that cannot bring perfection?”

“That you may see your sin and your need for salvation

Through my Son who paid in full and to my satisfaction,

Fulfilling the righteous demands of the Law on Calvary’s tree

That all who believes in His redemption may ever live with me”

“Now I understand! The Law cannot redeem me!

It drives me into the arms of Him who saves me!
